Two innovative technologies developed by Global Graphics Software for inkjet presses will be on show at the Hunkeler Innovationdays 2019 together with case study examples of how they have been incorporated into workflows by Mark Andy, the world’s leading manufacturer of narrow- and mid-web printing and finishing equipment, and Ellerhold AG, Germany’s market leader for indoor and outdoor advertising.

ScreenPro™ is an ultra-high-speed screening engine tuned to smooth out imperfections in inkjet output and PrintFlat reduces non-uniformity across the web, commonly known as the inkjet smile.  

They significantly improve the print quality from inkjet printheads by addressing many quality defects, such as chaining, mottling and banding, that are difficult and expensive to correct mechanically. They can be applied to any print industry workflow either to a press that is already on the market, or one that’s still on the drawing board and work with any RIP software and combination of inks, substrates, printheads and electronics.

In 2018 ScreenPro was the recipient of several industry accolades such as the InterTech™ Technology Award in 2018, an Angel Award by Image Reports magazine, and featured in the top ten technologies of 2018 by Sean Smyth writing in Digital Labels and Packaging Magazine.

Mark Andy uses ScreenPro on the Digital Series press, a single pass UV inkjet label press. “The ScreenPro technology built in partnership with Global Graphics is a key development to provide streaming full color VDP options to meet the print speed requirements of today’s ‘next-generation’ UV Inkjet production presses,” says Ray Dickinson, Mark Andy, Vice President. “We were able to seamlessly integrate high-speed streaming variable data into the existing ProWORX digital front end.”

Ellerhold AG, the market leader in Germany for indoor and outdoor advertising with an approximate 70% share of the German billboard market, has licenced ScreenPro™ with PrintFlat™ to overcome visible banding on output caused by variations between printheads.

Now, when the quality was ‘not passable’ for difficult jobs, for example images with lots of blue sky, it is now very acceptable, even for the most difficult jobs. Global Graphics has a long history in screening innovation dating back to its patented FM or stochastic screening technology of the 1990s. In the age of digital printing, and inkjet in particular, Global Graphics has developed new screening technologies from the ground up in response to press manufacturers’ concerns about image quality in single pass inkjet applications.

Auf den Hunkeler Innovationdays werden zwei innovative Technologien vorgestellt, die von Global Graphics Software für Tintenstrahldruckmaschinen entwickelt wurden. Darüber hinaus zeigen Fallstudien von Mark Andy, dem weltweit führenden Hersteller von Schmal- und Mittelbahn-Druck- sowie Ausrüstung zur Weiterverarbeitung, und der Ellerhold AG, Deutschlands Marktführer für Innen- und Außenwerbung, wie diese Technologien in Workflows integriert wurden.

ScreenPro™ ist eine ultraschnelle Screening-Engine für die Behebung von Mängeln beim Tintenstrahldruck und PrintFlat reduziert die allgemein als „Tintenstrahllächeln“ bekannte Ungleichförmigkeit.  

Sie sorgen durch Behebung von Defekten wie Streifen- und Fleckenbildung, deren mechanische Korrektur kompliziert und teuer ist, für eine deutliche Verbesserung der Druckqualität von Tintenstrahl-Druckköpfen. Sie können auf jeden Workflow in der Druckbranche angewendet werden (sowohl auf eine Druckmaschine, die bereits auf dem Markt ist, als auch auf eine Druckmaschine, die sich noch in der Entwurfsphase befindet) und sind mit jeder RIP-Software und Kombination aus Tinten, Substraten, Druckköpfen und Elektronik kompatibel.

2018 erhielt ScreenPro mehrere Auszeichnungen der Branche (darunter den InterTech™ Technology Award 2018 und einen Angel Award vom „Image Reports“-Magazin) und wurde von Sean Smyth im „Digital Labels and Packaging“-Magazin als eine der zehn besten Technologien des Jahres 2018 vorgestellt.

Die Ellerhold AG – mit einem Anteil von ca. 70 % am deutschen Markt für Werbetafeln der Marktführer für Innen- und Außenwerbung in Deutschland – hat ScreenPro mit PrintFlat lizenziert, um durch Variationen zwischen den Druckköpfen verursachte sichtbare Streifenbildung bei der Ausgabe zu vermeiden.
