Global Graphics optimiert produktivität für neuen Etikettierungs-Workflow bei Durst

Cambridge, Großbritannien, 19. September 2017: Global Graphics Software gab heute bekannt, dass die Durst Group sich für Harlequin RIP® und die ScreenPro™ Screening Engine entschieden hat, um den Datendurchsatz in Durst Symphony™, dem neuen Workflow von Durst, zu optimieren.  Symphony wird die Digital- und Verpackungsdruckmaschinen vom Typ Durst Tau 330 steuern, darunter die neue Tau 330 RSC von Durst, die auf der Labelexpo Europe in Brüssel ausgestellt wird (25. bis 28. September, Durst Stand 8B26 in Halle 8).

Global Graphics ist ein Entwickler von Softwareplattformen für digitalen Druck, darunter Harlequin RIP®. Durst ist ein Hersteller von zukunftsweisenden digitalen Druck- und Produktionstechnologien.

Die entscheidenden Argumente für Durst bei der Wahl von Harlequin waren die überragende Qualität bei hohen Druckgeschwindigkeiten sowie die gleichbleibende Leistung und Zuverlässigkeit.  Die Durst TAU 330 RSC läuft mit 78 linearen Meter/min bei 8 Farben und einer Auflösung von 1200 x 1200, und weil Harlequin in der Lage ist, mühelos große Mengen variabler Daten wiederzugeben, können selbst anspruchsvollste Drucktermine eingehalten werden.

Auch BreakThrough, der Engineering-Service von Global Graphics, war ein Faktor bei der Entscheidung von Durst, „zur Unterstützung der Integration und Produktentwicklung“, so Gary Fry, CEO von Global Graphics.

Global Graphics optimaliseert productiviteit voor nieuwe etikettenworkflow van Durst

Cambridge (VK), 19 september 2017: Global Graphics Software kondigt vandaag aan dat Durst Group heeft gekozen voor de Harlequin RIP® en de screening engine ScreenPro™ voor de optimalisering van datadoorvoer in Durst Symphony™, de nieuwe workflow van Durst.  Symphony zal de Durst Tau 330 digitale en verpakkingspersen aansturen, waaronder Dursts nieuwe Tau 330 RSC, die zal worden getoond op Labelexpo Europe in Brussel (25 – 28 september, Durst-stand 8B26 in zaal 8).

Global Graphics is een ontwikkelaar van platforms voor digitaal printen, waaronder de Harlequin RIP®, en Durst is een fabrikant van geavanceerde digitale print- en productietechnologieën.

Durst koos voor Harlequin vanwege zijn vermogen om hoogwaardige output te produceren op hoge snelheid en vanwege zijn consistentie en betrouwbaarheid.  De Durst TAU 330 RSC draait met 78 lin. meter/min voor 8-kleurenscheiding met printresolutie 1200 x 1200, en doordat Harlequin grote hoeveelheden variabele data moeiteloos kan renderen, kunnen zelfs de meest veeleisende afdrukschema’s worden gehaald.

Vorstellung neuer funktionen für etiketten und verpackungen in Harlequin auf der Labelexpo

September 2017: Besucher des Global Graphics-Stands auf der Labelexpo werden eine Reihe spezieller Funktionen für den Druck von digitalen Etiketten und Verpackungen in Harlequin-RIP® zu sehen bekommen, von denen einige im vergangenen Jahr eingeführt wurden. Das Unternehmen ist derzeit dabei, sein Portfolio an Drucksystemanbietern, die dieses Marktsegment bedienen, zu erweitern.

Zu den neuen Funktionen gehören Steuerelemente, mit denen leichter entschieden werden kann, wann emulierte Schmuckfarben mit Prozessfarben gemischt werden sollten, um eine hochpräzise Farbabstimmung für Marken zu erreichen. Darüber hinaus gibt es erweiterte Steuerelemente für PDF-Ebenen, mit denen in der Prozesskontrolle verwendete optionale Inhalte separat ein- oder ausgeschaltet werden können, z. B. um bei Lead-in-Bögen nur die Schnitt- und Falzlinien zu drucken.

„Immer mehr Anbieter nutzen Harlequin als Bestandteil ihrer Lösungen für Etiketten und Verpackungen“, sagt Martin Bailey, CTO, Global Graphics Software. „Dabei ergeben sich im Laufe der Zusammenarbeit mit uns Möglichkeiten zur Feinabstimmung unserer Software, von denen Druckereien und Verarbeiter profitieren können.  

„Warum etwa ist es wichtig, zu welchem Zeitpunkt Sie Schmuckfarben, die in CMYK oder CMYKOG usw. emuliert werden, mit Prozessfarben mischen? Beispielsweise, weil Sie vielleicht absichtlich einen Standard für den Offset- oder Flexodruck für Bilder und andere Grafiken in den Prozessfarben emulieren möchten und dabei nicht die für Ihre Markenfarben verfügbare Skala beeinträchtigen wollen, indem Sie sie in diese Emulation einbeziehen. Aber Sie sollten unbedingt dafür sorgen, dass die veränderte Linearisierung auch auf diese angewendet wird, um Probleme beim Druck zu vermeiden.

Harlequin RIP wandelt Design und Druckvorstufendaten in ein druckbares Format und leitet die Daten an den Tintenstrahl-Druckkopf, die Toner-Kennzeichnungskomponente oder den Laser-Plattenbelichter weiter. Er wurde leistungsmäßig so optimiert, dass eine höchstmögliche Geschwindigkeit ohne Abstriche bei der Druckqualität erzielt wird.

Das System bietet umfassende Unterstützung für Schmuckfarben, Farbstoffsätze, die über CMYK hinausgehen, Overprinting und variable Data Print-Optimierung für die Stapelverarbeitung von Etiketten, die zusammen ausgeschossen werden, Seriennummern, Nachverfolgung sowie randomisierte Versionierung. Es beinhaltet außerdem Rasterungen, die speziell für unterschiedliche Drucktechnologien, einschließlich Flexo- und Tintenstrahldruck, entwickelt wurden.

Zu den weiteren Funktionen zur Verarbeitung von Etiketten und Verpackungen gehören:

  • Markenfarbe suchen und bearbeiten: Die meisten digitalen Produktionen erfolgen ohne spezielle Tinten für Markenfarben.  Harlequin enthält Suchtabellen für benannte Farben, um angeforderte Schmuckfarbenauszüge auf verschiedene Arten in Prozessfarben zu konvertieren. PANTONE ist im Lieferumfang enthalten, und es können zusätzliche Bibliotheken hinzugefügt werden.
  • Emulierte Schmuckfarben zusammenführen: Wenn Ihre Schmuckfarben umgewandelt werden, sobald Sie sie sehen können, und wenn auf das Schmuckfarben-Objekt eine Transparenzüberblendung angewendet wird, dann sieht das Ergebnis für ein und denselben Druckauftrag völlig anders aus als bei einer Druckmaschine, die über eine Tinte für die Schmuckfarbe verfügt. Harlequin behält die Schmuckfarben bis nach dem Transparenz-Compositing bei, bevor gegen Ende des Prozesses emulierte Schmuckfarben zu den Prozessfarben gemischt werden.
  • Strukturelle und technische Trennungen:
  • Der Harlequin Contour Processor™ erfasst Stanzlinien und andere technische Trennungen, die oft für das Proofing, für die Ausrichtung von Drucken und vorgestanzten Medien oder für das Stanzen nach dem Druck gedruckt werden müssen. Diese Trennungen müssen für den Produktionsdruck aus dem Raster entfernt werden. Sie können dann zur Steuerung von Schneideeinrichtungen verwendet werden.
  • Trennungen wie Stanzlinien oder Klebebereiche können beim Rendering auch komplett ignoriert werden, statt sie einfach auszulassen. Hierdurch werden Probleme vermieden, wenn sie unbeabsichtigt auf Aussparen eingestellt wurden.
  • PDF-Ebenen (optionale Inhalte) können separat ein- oder ausgeschaltet werden: Bei der Erstellung werden in Workflows häufig Ebenen mit optionalen Inhalten für die Prozesskontrolle verwendet, und manchmal muss das PDF-Dokument mit einigen aktivierten und einigen deaktivierten Schichten gedruckt werden. In Harlequin kann auch alles andere, was nicht in einer Ebene enthalten ist, abgeschaltet werden, sodass Sie beispielsweise nichts außer die Stanzlinien auf Lead-in-Bögen drucken können, um die Registrierung der Prägeplatten zu vereinfachen.
  • Unterstützung für Color Logic: Harlequin beinhaltet ein Framework, über das Sie Unterstützung für Color Logic oder andere Metallic-Design-Tools hinzufügen können, wenn Ihr digitales Druckgerät mit Weißpigmenten arbeitet.
  • Overprinting für Weiß, Lack und Metallic außer Kraft setzen: Einige Farbstoffe sollten andere Farbstoffe nicht aussparen bzw. von diesen ausgespart werden.  Ein Lack darf beispielsweise niemals andere Farben aussparen, während eine weiße Druckfarbe, die unter andere Farben gelegt wird, nicht von „echten“ Grafiken in andere Druckfarben ausgespart werden sollte. Harlequin 11 umfasst Konfigurationsoptionen, mit denen diese Overprints gesteuert werden können.
  • UV-Tintenstrahldrucker: Erzwingen schwarzer Aussparungen zur Verbesserung der Lesbarkeit, da sich bei Druckmaschinen ohne Pinning zwischen den Druckköpfen die Farben auf der Substratoberfläche mischen können. Dies führt bei sehr kleinen Grafiken wie z. B. Text zu unscharfen Kontouren.

Auf der Labelexpo präsentiert Global Graphics außerdem ein erweitertes Sortiment an Rasteroptionen für Etiketten und Verpackungs-Workflows, die in Bezug auf die Ausgabequalität von Single-Pass-Tintenstrahldruckern neue Maßstäbe setzen.  Die ScreenPro™ Screening Engine kann in Etikettierungs- und Verpackungs-Workflows zusammen mit beliebigen RIPs eingesetzt werden.  Die Rastertechnologie von Global Graphics wurde von Grund auf entwickelt, um den Bedenken von Druckmaschinenherstellern hinsichtlich der Bildqualität bei Anwendungen mit Single-Pass-Tintenstrahldruckern Rechnung zu tragen.

Nuove funzioni di Harlequin per etichette e packaging presentate al Labelexpo

Cambridge, Regno Unito, 8 settembre 2017: i visitatori dello stand Global Graphics al Labelexpo vedranno tante nuove funzioni per la stampa digitale di etichette e packaging con Harlequin RIP®, alcune delle quali sono state introdotte l’anno scorso, con l’ampliamento del portfolio di fornitori di macchine da stampa che riforniscono questo settore del mercato.

Le nuove funzioni includono il controllo dei tempi di miscelazione dei colori spot emulati con colori di processo per una corrispondenza del colore del marchio eccezionalmente accurata, nonché i controlli estesi sui livelli di PDF, in modo da poter attivare/disattivare singolarmente i contenuti opzionali usati nel controllo dei processi, ad esempio per stampare solo linee di taglio e piegatura per i fogli di presentazione.

"Un numero sempre maggiore di fornitori sta utilizzando Harlequin nelle loro soluzioni per etichette e packaging", dichiara Martin Bailey, CTO di Global Graphics Software. "Pertanto, lavorando a stretto contatto con loro, insieme identifichiamo le opportunità disponibili per perfezionare il nostro software e offrire una migliore soluzione a negozi di stampe e conversioni.  

"Solo per fare un esempio, perché è importante la fase in cui si miscelano i colori spot che sono emulati in CMYK o CMYKOG, ecc. con i colori di processo? Se si deve emulare deliberatamente uno standard di stampa offset o flexo per immagini e altra grafica negli inchiostri di processo e se non si vuole compromettere la gamma disponibile per i colori del proprio marchio includendoli in tale emulazione. Ma se sicuramente si desidera accertarsi che le trasformazioni di limitazione del proprio inchiostro vi vengano applicate per evitare problemi di stampa.  

Con controlli come questo e tante altre funzioni per la produzione di etichette e packaging, Harlequin offre la flessibilità di ottenere i migliori risultati dal proprio workflow. Aspettiamo con ansia il giorno in cui i fornitori ci daranno l’autorizzazione ad annunciare che hanno scelto Harlequin."

Harlequin RIP trasforma i dati su design e pre-stampa in un formato che può essere stampato e inserisce questi dati nella testina di stampa a getto d’inchiostro, nel motore di stampa del toner o nelle macchine da stampa plate-setter laser. Il software è ottimizzato per garantire le prestazioni ottimali e produrre la più elevata velocità possibile senza compromettere la qualità di stampa.

Include un ricco supporto per l’ottimizzazione di colori spot, set di coloranti oltre il CMYK, sovrastampa e stampa di dati variabili, per l’elaborazione di batch di etichette congiunti, numeri di serie, numeri di monitoraggio e tracciamento e versioning randomizzato. Include anche lo screening delle mezzetinte sviluppato in modo specifico per una varietà di tecnologie di stampa, incluse quelle flexo e a getto d’inchiostro.

Altre funzioni per etichette e packaging includono:

  • Ricerca e modifica del colore del marchio: la maggior parte della produzione digitale viene realizzata senza speciali inchiostri a colori del marchio.  Harlequin include tabelle di ricerche del colore per convertire le separazioni spot richieste in colori di processo tramite diversi percorsi. La libreria PANTONE è inclusa ed è possibile aggiungere librerie aggiuntive.
  • Fusione di spot emulati: se i colori spot vengono trasformati in build di processo appena sono visibili e se l’oggetto colorato spot è coinvolto in una miscela di trasparenze, il risultato sarà molto diverso da quello ottenuto se lo stesso lavoro viene stampato su una macchina da stampa che ha effettivamente un inchiostro per tale colore spot. Harlequin conserva lo spot dietro tutto il compostaggio di trasparenza prima di unire gli spot emulati negli inchiostri di processo in una seconda fase dell’operazione.
  • Separazioni strutturali e tecniche:
    • Harlequin Contour Processor™ intercetta le linee di fustella e altre separazioni tecniche che spesso devono essere stampate per la revisione oppure per l’allineamento di stampe e supporti di pre-taglio o ancora per la fustellatura post-stampa. Queste separazioni devono essere rimosse dal raster per la stampa in produzione. Possono essere usate per guidare le taglierine.
    • Le separazioni quali le linee di fustella o le zone di incollaggio possono anche essere completamente ignorate invece che semplicemente omesse durante il rendering, evitando problemi se accidentalmente impostate per lo spostamento.
    • I livelli di PDF (contenuto opzionale) possono essere attivati o disattivati singolarmente: i workflow di creazione usano spesso livelli di contenuto opzionale per il controllo dei processi e, a volte, il PDF deve essere stampato con alcuni livelli attivati e altri livelli disattivati. Harlequin consente anche di disattivare tutto ciò che non è incluso in un particolare livello, pertanto è possibile, ad esempio, stampare solo le linee di fustella sui fogli di presentazione per assistenza con la registrazione delle fustelle.
  • Supporto Color Logic: Harlequin include un framework che facilita l’aggiunta del supporto di Color Logic e di altri strumenti di progettazione metallici, se il proprio dispositivo digitale include un colorante bianco.
  • Sovrastampa prevalente per il bianco, lo smalto e il metallo: alcuni coloranti speciali non devono spostare o essere spostati da altri coloranti.  Uno smalto non deve mai spostare gli altri colori, ad esempio, quando un inchiostro bianco sottostante ad altri colori non deve essere spostato dalla grafica "reale" di altri inchiostri. Nouvelles fonctionnalités pour les étiquettes et les emballages dans Harlequin au salon Labelexpo

Cambridge, Royaume-Uni, le 8 septembre 2017 : au stand Global Graphics du salon Labelexpo, les visiteurs pourront découvrir de nouvelles fonctionnalités spéciales pour l’impression des étiquettes et emballages numériques dans le Harlequin RIP®. Certaines ont été présentées au cours des 12 derniers mois, à mesure que l’entreprise a étoffé son portefeuille de distributeurs de presses pour ce secteur du marché.

Il s’agit notamment de contrôles pour décider quand mélanger les couleurs d’accompagnement émulées et les couleurs quadri afin d’obtenir une correspondance ultraprécise des couleurs de marque. Signalons également des contrôles étendus sur couches PDF afin que le contenu en option utilisé pour le contrôle de traitement puisse être activé ou désactivé, notamment pour imprimer uniquement des lignes de pliage et de découpage pour les feuilles guides.

« Par exemple, pourquoi est-il important de bien déterminer l’étape à laquelle mélanger les couleurs d’accompagnement émulées en CMJN, ou CMJNOV etc., avec les couleurs quadri ? Vous pourriez délibérément émuler une norme d’impression offset ou flexographique pour des images et autres graphiques dans les encres quadri, et il convient d’éviter de compromettre le gamut disponible pour les couleurs de votre marque en les incluant dans cette émulation. Pour autant, vous devez vous assurer que vos transformations à restriction d’encre s’appliquent à celles-ci, pour éviter tout problème au niveau de la presse.

Le RIP Harlequin transforme les données de conception et de pré-impression en un format imprimable qui transmet ces données à la tête d’impression de l’imprimante, au moteur de marquage du toner ou à la presse laser à ajusteur de plaques. Haute précision, il peut produire à la vitesse la plus élevée possible sans compromettre la qualité d’impression.

Il prend en charge les couleurs d’accompagnement, les compositions colorantes hors CMJN et la surimpression, ainsi que l’optimisation d’impression des données variables pour les lots d’étiquettes imposées ensemble, les numéros de série, le suivi et le versioning aléatoire. Il comprend également un filtre demi-teinte développé spécifiquement pour diverses technologies d’impression, notamment la flexographie et l’impression à jet d’encre.

Autres fonctionnalités pour applications d’étiquetage et d’emballage :

  • Recherche et modification des couleurs de marque : la majeure partie de la production numérique s’effectue sans encre spéciale de couleur de marque.  Harlequin intègre des tableaux de recherche des couleurs titrés pour convertir les séparations de couleurs d’accompagnement requises en couleurs quadri de diverses manières. PANTONE est inclus et des bibliothèques supplémentaires peuvent être ajoutées.
  • Fusion des couleurs d’accompagnement émulées : si vos couleurs d’accompagnement sont transformées en couleurs quadri telles que vous les voyez, et si l’objet coloré apparait dans un mélange de transparence, le résultat sera sensiblement différent d’une impression sur une presse disposant effectivement d’une encre pour cette couleur d’accompagnement. Harlequin conserve la couleur d’accompagnement après le compostage de transparence, avant de fusionner toute couleur émulée avec les encres quadri en fin de parcours.
  • Séparations structurelles et techniques :
    • Le Harlequin Contour Processor™ intercepte les lignes de pliage et autres séparations techniques qu’il faut souvent imprimer pour épreuvage, ou pour aligner les impressions et les supports prédécoupés ou la découpe en post-impression. Ces séparations doivent être supprimées de la trame pour l’impression de production. Elles peuvent ensuite être utilisées pour diriger les massicots.
    • En outre, les séparations telles que les lignes de pliage et les zones de colle peuvent être complètement ignorées plutôt qu’omises lors du rendu. Cela permet d’éviter les problèmes d’élimination accidentelle.
    • Les couches PDF (contenu en option) peuvent être activées ou désactivées individuellement : les workflows de création utilisent souvent des couches de contenu en option pour le contrôle du traitement, et le PDF doit parfois être imprimé avec certaines couches activées et d’autres désactivées. Grâce à Harlequin, vous pouvez désactiver tout ce qui n’est pas inclus dans des couches. Cela vous permet notamment d’imprimer uniquement les lignes de pliage sur les feuilles de guidage.
  • Prise en charge de Color Logic : Harlequin intègre une structure permettant de prendre en charge facilement Color Logic et d’autres outils de conception métallique, si votre appareil numérique inclut un colorant blanc.
  • Annulation de la surimpression (blanc, vernis et métallique) : certains colorants spéciaux ne doivent pas être éliminés par d’autres colorants.  Un vernis ne doit jamais être éliminé par d’autres couleurs. De même, une encre blanche sous d’autres couleurs ne doit jamais être éliminée par de « véritables » graphiques dans d’autres encres. Harlequin 11 comporte des configurations permettant de contrôler ces surimpressions.
  • Jet d’encre UV : force l’élimination des noirs pour une meilleure lisibilité. Sur une presse sans lien entre les têtes, les encres peuvent en effet se mélanger à la surface du substrat.

New features for labels and packaging in Harlequin on show at Labelexpo

Cambridge, UK, 8th September, 2017:  Visitors to the Global Graphics stand at Labelexpo will see a host of special features for digital labels and packaging printing in the Harlequin RIP®, some of which have been introduced during the past year as the company expands its portfolio of press vendors supplying this sector of the market.

New features include controls for deciding when to blend emulated spot colors with process colors for exceptionally accurate brand color matching, and extended controls over PDF layers so that optional content used in process control can be individually switched on or off, for example for example to print just cut and fold lines for lead-in sheets.

“An increasing number of vendors are using Harlequin under the hood of their solutions for labels and packaging, says Martin Bailey, CTO, Global Graphics Software. “So naturally, as we work more closely with them we jointly identify opportunities to fine-tune our software to give print shops and converters a better solution.  

“Just to take one example, why does it matter at which stage you blend spot colors that are emulated in CMYK, or CMYKOG etc., with process colors? Well, you might be deliberately emulating an offset or flexo print standard for images and other graphics in the process inks, and you don’t want to compromise the gamut available for your brand colors by including them in that emulation. But you definitely do want to make sure that your ink limiting transforms apply to them to avoid issues on press.  

“With controls like this and a host of other features for labels and packaging production Harlequin gives you the flexibility to get the best results out of your workflow.  I look forward to the day when vendors give us permission to announce that they have chosen Harlequin.”

The Harlequin RIP transforms design and pre-press data into a format that can be printed and feeds that data to the inkjet print-head, toner marking engine or laser plate-setter press.  It is highly tuned for performance, to produce the highest speed possible without compromising on print quality.

It includes rich support for spot colors, colorant sets beyond CMYK, overprinting, and variable data print optimization for processing batches of labels imposed together, serial numbers, track and trace and randomized versioning. It also includes halftone screening developed specifically for a variety of print technologies, including flexo and inkjet.

Other features for labels and packaging applications include:

  • Brand color look up and editing:  most digital production is done without special brand color inks.  Harlequin includes named color look up tables to convert requested spot separations into process colors via a number of routes.  PANTONE is included and additional libraries may be added.
  • Merging emulated spots: If your spot colors are transformed to process builds as soon as you see them, and if the spot colored object is involved in any transparency blending, the result will look very different to the same job being printed on a press that actually has an ink for that spot color. Harlequin retains the spot past all transparency composting before merging any emulated spots into the process inks late in the process.
  •  Structural and technical separations:
    • the Harlequin Contour Processor™ intercepts die lines and other technical separations which often need to be printed for proofing, or for aligning prints and pre-cut media or post-print die cutting. Those separations need removing from the raster for production printing. They can then be used to drive cutters.
    • Separations such as die lines or glue areas can also be completely ignored rather than just omitted when rendering, avoiding issues when they have been accidentally set to knock out.
    • PDF layers (optional content) can be individually turned on or off:  creation workflows often use layers of optional content for process control and sometimes the PDF must be printed with some layers on and others off. Harlequin also allows everything that’s not included in any layer to be turned off so that you can, for instance, print nothing but die lines on lead-in sheets to assist with registration of dies.
  • Color Logic support: Harlequin includes a framework that makes it easy to add support for Color Logic and other metallic design tools if your digital device includes a white colorant.
  • Overriding overprint for white, varnish and metallic: Some special colorants should not knock out of, or be knocked out by, other colorants.  A varnish should never knock out of other colors, for instance, while a white ink laid in under other colors should not be knocked out by ‘real’ graphics in other inks. Harlequin 11 includes configurations that allow these overprints to be controlled.
  • UV inkjet: forcing black knock outs for legibility because, on a press without pinning between the heads, inks can mix on the substrate surface and disrupt the outline of small graphics such as text.

At Labelexpo Global Graphics will also showcase an extended range of screening options for labels and packaging workflows that rewrite the rule book when it comes to addressing single pass inkjet output quality.  The ScreenPro™ screening engine can be used in any label and packaging workflow alongside any RIP.  Global Graphics’ screening technology has been developed from the ground up in response to press manufacturers’ concerns about image quality in single pass inkjet applications.

Cambridge (Reino Unido), 8 de septiembre de 2017: Los visitantes del estand de Global Graphics en Labelexpo podrán ver una serie de características especiales para la impresión de embalajes y etiquetas digitales en Harlequin RIP®, algunas de las cuales se introdujeron durante el último año a medida que la empresa ampliaba su cartera de proveedores de prensas en este sector del mercado.

Las nuevas características incluyen controles para decidir cuándo combinar colores directos emulados con colores de proceso para obtener una coincidencia excepcionalmente precisa de los colores de marca, así como controles ampliados de las capas de PDF para que el contenido opcional empleado en el control de procesos pueda activarse o desactivarse individualmente, por ejemplo, para imprimir únicamente las líneas de corte y pliegue en las hojas entrantes.

Solo por poner un ejemplo: ¿por qué es importante la fase en la que se combinan los colores directos emulados en CMYK o CMYKOG, con los colores de proceso? Es posible que esté emulando deliberadamente una impresión offset o flexo estándar para imágenes y otros gráficos en las tintas de proceso y no quiere comprometer la gama disponible para los colores de su marca incluyéndolos en la emulación. Pero lo que sí quiere es asegurarse de que se aplica el límite de tinta para evitar problemas en la prensa.  

"Con controles de este tipo y numerosas funciones adicionales para la producción de etiquetas y embalajes, Harlequin brinda la flexibilidad necesaria para obtener los mejores resultados del flujo de trabajo. Harlequin RIP transforma los datos de diseño y pre-prensa en un formato que puede imprimirse y que alimenta los datos al cabezal de impresión de inyección de tinta, al motor de marcado de tóner o a la prensa filmadora de planchas láser. Está altamente optimizado para el rendimiento y para producir la mayor velocidad posible sin comprometer la calidad de impresión.

Incluye gran compatibilidad con colores directos, conjuntos de colores distintos de CMYK, sobreimpresión, optimización de la impresión de datos variables para procesar lotes de etiquetas colocados juntos, números de serie, seguimiento y rastreo y versiones aleatorias. También incluye la detección de semitonos, desarrollada específicamente para una amplia variedad de tecnologías de impresión, como la flexo y la de inyección de tinta.

Otras características para su aplicación en etiquetas y embalajes incluyen:

  • Búsqueda y edición de colores de marca: la mayor parte de la producción digital se realiza sin tintas de color de marca especiales.  Harlequin incluye tablas de búsqueda de colores para convertir las separaciones de puntos solicitadas en colores de proceso mediante diversas rutas. Incluye PANTONE y también es posible añadir bibliotecas adicionales.
  • Combinación de puntos emulados: Si los puntos de color se transforman en estructuras de proceso en cuanto se ven, y si el objeto con puntos de color se ve involucrado en cualquier fusión de transparencia, el resultado tendrá un aspecto muy diferente al mismo trabajo impreso en una prensa con tinta específica para ese punto de color. Harlequin conserva el punto después del compostaje de transparencia antes de combinar cualquier punto simulado en las tintas de proceso más adelante.
  • Separaciones estructurales y técnicas:
    • Harlequin Contour Processor™ intercepta líneas de troquelado y otras separaciones técnicas que a menudo se necesitan imprimir para pruebas o para alinear las impresiones y el material precortado o el troquelado postimpresión. Las separaciones deben extraerse de la trama para la producción de impresión. A continuación pueden utilizarse para impulsar el corte.

Harlequin 11 incluye configuraciones que permiten controlar estas sobreimpresiones.
  • Inyección de tinta UV: se fuerza la eliminación para una mejor legibilidad ya que, en una prensa sin anclaje entre los cabezales, las tintas pueden mezclarse en la superficie del sustrato y perturbar el esquema de gráficos pequeños, como el texto.

Global Graphics publishes 2017 half year financial report

Cambridge (UK), 26 July 2017 (18.00 CEST): Global Graphics PLC (Euronext: GLOG) announces it has published its half year report and condensed consolidated interim financial statements for the six months ended 30 June 2017.  The full document is available for download from the investors section of the Company’s website at:  http://www.globalgraphics.com/investors/financial-reports

Financial highlights of the six months ended 30 June 2017

  • Revenue for the period was up 20% on the same period in 2016, from €8.48 million to €10.17 million.  There was an exceptional item of €2.87 million of revenue during the 6 months ending 30 June 2016 that did not recur during the 6 months ending 30 June 2017.
  • The pre-tax result was a profit of €0.16 million for the period, compared with a profit of €1.04 million for the same period in 2016.
  • EBITDA for the period was €1.75 million, compared with €3.30 million for the same period in 2016.
  • Cash and cash equivalents increased by €0.10 million during the period to €4.74 million.
  • The Company’s measure of adjusted operating profit showed a profit of €1.03 million for the period, compared to a profit of €1.99 million for the same period in 2016.


Gary Fry, Global Graphics CEO comments, “We are delighted with our top line growth and sustained profitability.  We have achieved record revenues since my tenure without the impact of a single new large deal, which highlights the healthy performance of our underlying core business.  It is also pleasing to note that we remain in a strong cash position.

“The Meteor Inkjet business is progressing well and the inkjet sector as a whole continues to show exciting growth.   This acquisition is enabling us to deliver on our strategy to become the go-to player for high-speed inkjet OEMs across a broad range of sectors, such as industrial and functional printing. We have become an important player in the ecosystem because we offer printhead driver systems, software solutions, and the engineering capability to provide technology innovation.

“Our partnership with HYBRID Software is also progressing very well.  HYBRID use the Harlequin RIP in their workflow product and there are now a number of systems in the field. We offer HYBRID labels and packaging software as a component in our Fundamentals digital front end.

“The second half of the year will see us exhibit at LabelExpo, the major international label exhibition.  A number of OEMs in this segment are now using our solutions and we expect to be able to provide more detail in the next few months.”
