Hybrid Software Group acquires Quadraxis Technology

Cambridge (UK), 1 December 2022:  HYBRID Software has completed the acquisition of the technology and intellectual property of Quadraxis, a French company which developed pioneering technology in 3D scanning and image processing.  After Quadraxis went into receivership, HYBRID Software was the successful bidder to acquire its intellectual property from the liquidators, including software source code and trade names.

The acquisition strengthens Hybrid Software Group’s offering in 3D and additive manufacturing solutions.  The Group plans to integrate Quadraxis software into its extensive portfolio which includes other 3D applications such as iC3D and Met3D.

“During its 19 years of operation, Quadraxis developed some unique technology to simplify the capturing of 3D models to facilitate the distortion of graphic designs for shrink sleeves, embossed metal, and thermoformed plastic packaging,”  explains Nick De Roeck, Co-President of HYBRID Software, a HYSG Company.

“Many companies in the packaging industry use Quadraxis technology in automated workflows to make their packaging production less manual and more efficient”, he continues. “We obviously regret the company going into receivership, and really wanted to salvage the technology. By making the successful bid, we are happy to be able to give the technology a new home at HYBRID Software.”

HYBRID Software will continue to assist current customers with continued support and maintenance for their Quadraxis software.  Quadraxis customers or anyone who wants more information can contact HYBRID Software at info@hybridsoftware.com.

The Group lines up its complete range of technologies at Japan’s international graphic arts exhibition, from 3-D visualisation of packaging to high-speed, colour-managed variable data printing

Cambridge UK, 1st November 2022: Hybrid Software Group (Euronext: HYSG), developer of enterprise software for industrial inkjet manufacturing, is showcasing its complete range of solutions at IGAS, the international graphic arts exhibition at the Tokyo Big Sight in Japan (24 – 28 November).

Mike Rottenborn, Hybrid Software Group CEO. comments, “Our brands are well respected in the Japanese market.  We have had a local presence since 2004 when Global Graphics KK was established in Tokyo and over the years our highly motivated and professional team has established Harlequin as the RIP of choice for Japanese printer manufacturers.  They are now joined by our other group companies to display the full breadth of our solutions for industrial inkjet applications at IGAS.”

Yoshiyuki Hagiwara, director of Global Graphics KK adds, “IGAS provides us with a platform to inform our OEM and end-user customers about the best technology for their print operation.  Our booth will feature live demonstrations from all Group companies plus we are particularly pleased to show SmartDFE in action, the first technology co-developed by the Group.”

A major upgrade to the SmartDFE will be featured on the booth. SmartMedia™, is a new suite of components that simplifies the process of obtaining the best quality and color output from a digital press. • HYBRID Software’s iC3D Suite now updated to Version 8.0 with new features and additional enhancements including an optimised shrink sleeve template with several new features. The award-winning iC3D Suite was the first all-in-one design software specifically developed for packaging designers and converters.

Hybrid Software Group releases Q3 results

Cambridge (UK) 20 October 2022 (18.00 CEST) – Hybrid Software Group PLC (Euronext: HYSG) provides a trading update for the nine months ended 30 September 2022.

CEO Mike Rottenborn comments, “The third quarter of 2022 was marked by consistent performance in the Enterprise Software and Printing Software segments. Revenue of the Printhead Solutions segment recovered to levels in line with the third quarter of 2021 after having experienced a severe downturn in H1 due to the global shortage of electronic components. Group revenue for the quarter was up 12% year-over-year despite experiencing more challenging business conditions than a year ago.

“The third quarter results were favourably impacted by the sale of an unused asset (approximately 69,000 IPv4 internet addresses) for a net amount of €3.3 million which closed in July. Given the nature of the sale this income is reported as “Other Income” and is not included in our revenue figures, but it is accretive to EBITDA.

“Group EBITDA was significantly up in Q3 thanks to better operational performance across the board and the sale of the IPv4 internet addresses. EBITDA for the quarter was €4.58 million compared to €1.61 million for Q3 2021.  Credit is due to the entire team for rising to the challenge of these difficult business conditions, and our smaller businesses which focus on colour management, 3-D visualisation, and legacy printing devices deserve special mention for outperforming their revenue and cost targets.

“Although business conditions remain challenging, with rising inflation and the war in Ukraine causing uncertainty for our customers, we have delivered profitable growth throughout the difficult climate of the pandemic, and we expect to continue this in the future”.

Hybrid Software Group sales boosted by LabelExpo excitement

Cambridge (UK), 5 October, 2022: Hybrid Software Group PLC (Euronext: HYSG) enjoyed brisk business at Labelexpo Americas, the first major industry event where all of the companies in the Group exhibited together.

“There was a real buzz on the show floor and a newfound confidence that things are back on a firmer footing after the disruption caused by the pandemic”, says Mike Rottenborn, CEO of Hybrid Software Group.  “Our booth was busy throughout with back-to-back demos.  We rang the ‘closing bell’ often, booking more than $690,000 in business from label printers in Latin America and the U. • HYBRID Software’s iC3D Suite was updated to Version 8.0 with new features and additional enhancements including an optimised shrink sleeve template with several new features. The award-winning iC3D Suite was the first all-in-one design software specifically developed for packaging designers and converters.

Global Graphics closes last link in DFE chain with SmartMedia™ color management at Labelexpo Americas

  • SmartMedia technology creates a library of predefined media definitions describing all the settings needed to get perfect color and quality
  • On booth 3015 Hall B Global Graphics Software will show the SmartDFE™ processing fully variable data at blistering speeds and communicating out to the wider print factory

Cambridge (UK), 1 September 2022: Global Graphics Software, developer of innovative components for digital printing and subsidiary of Hybrid Software Group, will be launching SmartMedia at Labelexpo Americas (Booth 3015, Hall B). SmartMedia, a major upgrade to the SmartDFE digital front end for label and packaging presses, removes complexity from the process of color profiling to ensure the best quality and color output from the press.

SmartDFE provides a full software and hardware stack, built around the award-winning Harlequin Direct™ RIP technology that has been designed to drive the fastest, widest and highest inkjet presses. SmartDFE is capable of processing fully variable data at blistering speeds and communicating out to the wider smart print factory, providing valuable information for QA and inspection, press maintenance, and stock control. It enables inkjet engineering teams to get to market quickly with a future-proofed, high-performance solution, whilst allowing them the space and capability to add their own value. SmartDFE provides a complete software stack for high-speed, single-pass inkjet presses and print bars, offering everything from a powerful pre-press workflow through to an ultra-high-speed RIP and halftone screening solution.

SmartMedia is a new suite of components that simplifies the process of obtaining the best quality and color output from a digital press. Powered by the award-winning PrintFlat™ and enhanced with powerful color tools from ColorLogic GmbH, recently acquired by Hybrid Software Group, SmartMedia packages all the OEM’s reference press settings for each media and ink set into a library of media definitions and, via a wizard-like experience, enables press operators to easily select the appropriate media and ink set combination without needing specialist knowledge.

Eric Worrall, Global Graphics’ VP of products and services explains: “The rise of extended color gamut, or 7-color printing, has created an opportunity for SmartMedia technology, as we help manufacturers set up their presses to produce high-quality results across all media types. Smart Media Manager enables the OEM to package their optimal settings for each media into a library. Our innovative technology enables any operator to bring the press back into a reference or golden state so that each media will give great quality and color in the field.”

SmartDFE is designed to be part of a fully automated manufacturing solution supporting Industry 4.0 telematics and MIS integration, plus connectivity with automated manufacturing lines via OPC UA, the open standard for information exchange for industrial communication. It has been co-developed using components from other Hybrid Software Group companies who are also exhibiting on booth 3015, including HYBRID Software’s STEPZ®, the native PDF job creation solution for pre-press and VDP, and HYBRID Software’s CLOUDFLOW® providing advanced workflow automation. SmartDFE also includes support for Meteor Inkjet’s industry-leading printhead electronics and software.
