Hybrid Software Group acquires Quadraxis Technology

Cambridge (UK), 1 December 2022:  HYBRID Software has completed the acquisition of the technology and intellectual property of Quadraxis, a French company which developed pioneering technology in 3D scanning and image processing.  After Quadraxis went into receivership, HYBRID Software was the successful bidder to acquire its intellectual property from the liquidators, including software source code and trade names.

The acquisition strengthens Hybrid Software Group’s offering in 3D and additive manufacturing solutions.  The Group plans to integrate Quadraxis software into its extensive portfolio which includes other 3D applications such as iC3D and Met3D.

“During its 19 years of operation, Quadraxis developed some unique technology to simplify the capturing of 3D models to facilitate the distortion of graphic designs for shrink sleeves, embossed metal, and thermoformed plastic packaging,”  explains Nick De Roeck, Co-President of HYBRID Software, a HYSG Company.

“Many companies in the packaging industry use Quadraxis technology in automated workflows to make their packaging production less manual and more efficient”, he continues. “We obviously regret the company going into receivership, and really wanted to salvage the technology. By making the successful bid, we are happy to be able to give the technology a new home at HYBRID Software.”

HYBRID Software will continue to assist current customers with continued support and maintenance for their Quadraxis software.  Quadraxis customers or anyone who wants more information can contact HYBRID Software at info@hybridsoftware.com.

Hybrid Software Group releases Q3 results

Cambridge (UK) 20 October 2022 (18.00 CEST) – Hybrid Software Group PLC (Euronext: HYSG) provides a trading update for the nine months ended 30 September 2022.

CEO Mike Rottenborn comments, “The third quarter of 2022 was marked by consistent performance in the Enterprise Software and Printing Software segments. Revenue of the Printhead Solutions segment recovered to levels in line with the third quarter of 2021 after having experienced a severe downturn in H1 due to the global shortage of electronic components. Group revenue for the quarter was up 12% year-over-year despite experiencing more challenging business conditions than a year ago.

“The third quarter results were favourably impacted by the sale of an unused asset (approximately 69,000 IPv4 internet addresses) for a net amount of €3.3 million which closed in July. Given the nature of the sale this income is reported as “Other Income” and is not included in our revenue figures, but it is accretive to EBITDA.

“Group EBITDA was significantly up in Q3 thanks to better operational performance across the board and the sale of the IPv4 internet addresses. EBITDA for the quarter was €4.58 million compared to €1.61 million for Q3 2021.  Credit is due to the entire team for rising to the challenge of these difficult business conditions, and our smaller businesses which focus on colour management, 3-D visualisation, and legacy printing devices deserve special mention for outperforming their revenue and cost targets.

“Although business conditions remain challenging, with rising inflation and the war in Ukraine causing uncertainty for our customers, we have delivered profitable growth throughout the difficult climate of the pandemic, and we expect to continue this in the future”.

Smart Media Manager enables the OEM to package their optimal settings for each media into a library. Our innovative technology enables any operator to bring the press back into a reference or golden state so that each media will give great quality and color in the field.”

SmartDFE is designed to be part of a fully automated manufacturing solution supporting Industry 4.0 telematics and MIS integration, plus connectivity with automated manufacturing lines via OPC UA, the open standard for information exchange for industrial communication. It has been co-developed using components from other Hybrid Software Group companies who are also exhibiting on booth 3015, including HYBRID Software’s STEPZ®, the native PDF job creation solution for pre-press and VDP, and HYBRID Software’s CLOUDFLOW® providing advanced workflow automation. Hybrid Software Group appoints new Chief Financial Officer

Cambridge (UK), 10 August 2022 (08.00 CEST): Hybrid Software Group PLC (Euronext: HYSG) has appointed Joachim Van Hemelen as its new CFO and company director following Graeme Huttley’s decision to take up a new role in private equity.  Joachim is currently the CFO of HYBRID Software, a post he has held since 2016.

Peter Goodwin is being promoted from group financial controller to group finance director and company secretary, and Floris De Ruyck, currently the Group’s legal counsel, will be responsible for market relations and compliance.  The team will take up their new roles from 1st September 2022.

Prior to joining the Group in 2021 he was a relationship manager at ING Bank.

Guido Van der Schueren, chairman of Hybrid Software Group comments, “Graeme Huttley has been with the company for more than 25 years and we are extremely grateful for the contribution he has made to the Group, including in many areas outside of the pure finance role.  Joachim is a worthy successor with the right combination of technical ability, a strong focus on financial reporting and controls, and good knowledge of the industry that we serve.  The board of directors welcomes him into his new role.”

Hybrid Software Group’s Global Graphics granted US patent for methods to add late breaking data into PDF design files prior to print

Cambridge UK 3rd August, 2022: Global Graphics Software, a Hybrid Software Group (Euronext: HYSG) company, has been granted a US patent for “Methods and systems for indicating and replacing missing element(s) in print job files prior to printing” (United States Patent No. 11334302B1) by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Global Graphics Software is a developer of innovative software components for digital print including the Harlequin RIP®, the Direct range, and ScreenPro™, the fastest solutions on the market for driving data through digital presses and ensuring high quality output.

The invention describes how a PDF file may be delivered containing placeholders for data that is not available at the time at which that PDF was created, or not available to the person creating the PDF file. The placeholders may be specified using patterns, spot colors or specific color values.

The method may therefore be used in a variety of use cases including:

  • placeholders for variable data, especially in cases where the jobs should be streamed and the full set of data is not available when the print run starts, or where the variable data is generated dynamically on the fly during printing, e.g. serial and batch numbers, expiry dates, etc.
  • placeholders for secure data that is only made accessible during the printing process, e.g. for security documents, ID cards, lottery or entry tickets etc.
  • placeholders for data that could be damaged if processed through a regular PDF creation and prepress workflows, such as digital watermarking

“There are times when a design delivered to a prepress workflow or the digital front end for a digital press needs to mark some areas to have additional data added later, comments Martin Bailey, distinguished technologist, Global Graphics Software. “Examples include the print job or document rendering time or date, the print job or document rendering location, batch or serial numbers, a customer’s order number, customer name, a job name, a printer/converter/manufacturer’s job number, or a product identifier such as a Universal Product Code or European Article Number product code.

“We work hard to deliver value and innovation to our OEM customers.  This is one of a cluster of patents that highlights how the day-to-day work of our engineering and R & D teams is focussed on delivering productivity and efficiency to print workflows,” he concludes.

Hybrid Software Group PLC publishes 2022 interim report

Cambridge (UK), 28 July 2022 (08.00 CEST): Hybrid Software Group PLC (Euronext: HYSG) announces it has published its half year report and unaudited condensed consolidated interim financial statements for the six months ended 30 June 2022.

The full document is available to download from the financial reports section of the Company’s web site at  https://www.hybridsoftware.group/investors/financial-reports.

Mike Rottenborn, Hybrid Software Group CEO comments, “The first half of 2022 has been challenging for Hybrid Software Group, now comprising six operating units focused on a common mission: to supply all software and electronic components needed to drive an inkjet printing device.

“Our growth strategy remains on target, software revenues are rising, and even the most recent acquisitions, ColorLogic and iC3D, are ahead of plan and developing valuable new products.  However, unexpected issues sourcing a critical semiconductor chip caused a severe revenue shortfall in our Printhead Solutions segment and erased the gains from the Printing Software and Enterprise Software segments.  This resulted in subpar financial results for the first half of 2022, a sharp contrast from the record results this segment delivered in 2021.

“The situation has already been rectified by redesigning a key circuit board using a more powerful chip.  Thanks to heroic efforts by our employees and valuable input from customers who tested the new design, I’m pleased to report that we are now shipping the new board in production quantities and did not lose any customers due to the quick redesign of this key component, so we expect significant recovery in the second half of 2022.

“Hybrid Software Group remains committed to innovation and profitable growth and will continue to invest in additional engineering staff for key projects and business segments.”
